Microsoft Surface Go 3 Vs. MacBook Air

Technology is evolving so rapidly, and so are the laptops. These days, laptops are more portable, lightweight, and versatile than we could ever have imagined. On top of that, they come parked with a series of features designed to make them productive, seamless, and enjoyable.

When it comes to measurement, both the Microsoft Surface Go 3 and the MacBook Air are different. The former measures 10.95 inches x 8.10 inches x 0.62 inches and weighs 2.45 pounds while the latter measures 11.97 inches x 8.36 inches x 0.63 inches, and 2.8 pounds- By comparison, the Surface Laptop G is a bit shorter, thinner, and lighter.

The Microsoft Go Laptop comes in at 12.45 inches, and users get to enjoy a 1,536 x 1,024 resolution ((148 pixels per inch.). On the other hand, Apple’s MacBook Air comes in at 2,560 x 1,600 resolution (227 pixels per inch.). Notably, both brands have a slim bezel, but the Surface Laptop Go has a bigger bottom bezel.

Now let look at keyboards and trackpads. Apple’s Magic Keyboard is a notable feature, and arguably the best on a laptop today. Moreover, Mac Air has a force touch trackpad taking the experience to a whole new level. The Surface Laptop Go keyboard has a soft-touch feel. It’s hard to say which brand is the best in terms of design and your choice might narrow down to personal preferences.

The Microsoft Surface Go 3 uses the Windows 10 Home operating system while the Mac Air uses the macOS operating system. If you’re are tech-savvy or you’re familiar with one OS than the other, then you will know this can be a huge difference.

If you’ve been using laptops with Windows OS, you may be reluctant to switch to macOS and vice versa. So, your experience with either operating system plays a huge part in your decision. This doesn’t mean you cannot switch. You may even find it interesting/enjoyable to use the “not familiar OS.”

Microsoft users enjoy the security tools as well as productivity in place. For instance, there is OneNote, Photo app, Windows Defender, and more.

On the other hand, the macOS operating system allows users to enjoy a different experience compared to the Microsoft Windows OS.

Overall, both macOS and Windows OS are excellent operating systems despite their slight difference.

Battery

In terms of battery life, MacBook can last for about 8 hours while Surface Go can last for an average of 7 hours (Based on our testing when playing music). Both laptops have a remarkable battery life, although Mac Air is slightly better.

Portability & Flexibility

Adaptability is an important aspect of the modern-day laptop. It would be even right to say that this is one of the basic requirements of a modern-day laptop. That said, both Surface Go and Mac Air Score high in this area. As we mentioned before, Surface Go is lighter and can comfortably fit in small bags. In addition, Surface Go is effectively designed to cope in different environments. Some of its features include a light sensor, magnetometer, gyroscope, and more. However, Mac Air would be a better choice for productivity because it offers better speed compared to the Surface Go Laptop.

Closing Remarks

For size, the Surface Go has an edge (it’s thinner and lighter). It’s, therefore, more portable. However, in terms of performance, Mac Air is the laptop to go for. But if you’re looking for portability, Microsoft Go will serve you well because it’s portable, versatile, and tough. But overall, both computers are designed for office use and freelance who are on the go.
